Sunday Morning Bible Study 9:15 AM.
Everyone invited for a exciting opportunity for a well rounded and wholesome spiritual discussion at Livingston United Methodist Church starting Sunday October 4th from 9:15 am to 10:00am in the chapel coffee and donuts will be served. The topic is "Name" and each week there will be a different topic.
Jesus lived with the awareness that God is doing something, right her, right now and all are welcome to be a part of it. He encouraged his disciples and listeners to search, struggle and wrestle with his good news. He inspired, challenged, provoked, comforted and invited people to be open to God's work. We will be watching a series of short films that explore our world from the perspective of Jesus.
Oct 11 the topic is " Dust"
Oct 18 the topic is " Flame"
Oct 25 the topic is " Luggage"
I Invite you to explore, discover and question as we discuss the topics before us.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study: 10 AM.
Highlights:
- 80% of Americans are stressed about the economy & their personal finances
- 60% report feeling angry and irritable
- 52% lie awake at night worried about this
- Beneath all these direct causes (financial industries, subprime mortgages, housing bubble, fraud), there are deeper, indirect problems
- Unwilling to delay gratification, we used tomorrow's money to finance today's lifestyle
- We have an economic hangover
- How do we cultivate contentment in a world that screams at us we don't have enough
- We thought consuming all these things would increase our joy - instead it robbed us of joy and increased our stress
- Hamilton's hope is that we'll see our money and possessions with new eyes
- We are meant to desire God, but we turn that desire toward possessions
Lord, help me to be grateful for what I have, to remember that I don't need most of what I want, and that joy is found in simplicity and generosity.
You can get a copy of the book here. Would be a great study for a small group.
